International Police Clearance Requirement
Police clearance requirements for international students.
An international student admitted to Midwestern University must submit an International Police Clearance report from their country of origin by the end of the first month of the first quarter of enrollment for their degree program. For the criminal background check purposes, an international student is defined as an individual who was born in a foreign country, who immigrated to the U.S. after the age of 18 years, and who has not continuously resided in the United States for the seven year period prior to matriculation to Midwestern University.
Once the matriculation deposit is paid, the Dean of the College will contact the student to obtain their signature on the official notification that an International Police Clearance Report is required and the potential consequences of inappropriate findings on the report. The student must then complete the Midwestern University criminal background check consent form found on the student portal.
After logging in to the student portal, select the Student Services tab. This is where the Midwestern University Background Check Consent form is found. The student will read the information on the form and click the box at the bottom of the page consenting to the criminal background check. If the student applied to Midwestern University through an application service (PharmCAS, ADEA, OptomCAS) a separate consent is also required through the application service.
Midwestern University's background screening company, Certiphi, will contact the student via email / telephone with guidance on initiating the International Police Clearance. If the student fails to contact Certiphi after seven days of receiving instructions, the Dean of the College is notified of the student's failure to satisfy University criminal background check requirements.
