Biography

Dr. Bunker earned her B.A. in Linguistics and M.S. in Communication Disorders from Brigham Young University. She worked clinically in adult inpatient settings for several years before returning to get her Ph.D. in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Utah, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in cerebrovascular neurology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She has nearly 20 years of experience working with adults with various communication and swallowing difficulties, primarily in inpatient rehabilitation settings. Currently, she provides services in conjunction with her research.

Dr. Bunker specializes in the assessment and treatment of speech and language disorders associated with brain injury or disease, such as stroke. More specifically, she works with adults with aphasia and/or apraxia of speech. Her research interests include the improvement of assessment tools and the development of more effective treatments, specifically using non-invasive stimulation and neural modulation techniques to enhance the benefits of traditional therapy.
