Dr. Linda Sangalli graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Brescia in Italy in 2011. She continued there to get a Master of Science in Orthodontics in 2016 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Technology for Health in 2020. She also received a Master of Science in Orofacial Pain from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 2022.
At the beginning of her career, Dr. Sangalli began observing patients that would develop signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) during or after orthodontic therapy. Discovering a gap in knowledge in the dental community, she left her home country of Italy to seek advanced training in the United States, an experience that completely changed her working career trajectory. She soon discovered Orofacial Pain (OFP), a specialty bridging the medical and dental world, and realized that TMD is just a fraction of what a specialist diagnoses and treats. Recognizing the lack of exposure to these concepts during dental school, she made it her mission to spread awareness and knowledge of orofacial pain among predoctoral students.
She currently works closely with the students at the Midwestern University Dental Institute to manage patients with TMD complaints. She guides them through the screening process, encompassing a thorough medical history and a comprehensive clinical evaluation. She also collaborates with the Physical Therapy Institute to assist in managing and expediting the recovery of patients.
During her free time, she enjoys playing the piano and practicing sports, such as tennis, squash, and running. As a goal-driven individual, she will be running the Chicago Marathon this year!
