About Midwestern's Stroke Physical Therapy

Midwestern University’s Therapy Institute is a comprehensive outpatient physical therapy center. The Institute highlights the expertise of the Midwestern University’s licensed physical therapy faculty and provides an exceptional educational opportunity for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students at MWU. Physical Therapy services include orthopedic and sports injury, back and neck pain, post-surgical conditions, balance issues, men’s and women’s health and more.

C.A.R.E.N. – Computer Assisted Rehabilitation Environment System

The Therapy Institute also houses a C.A.R.E.N. (Computer Assisted Rehabilitation Environment) virtual reality system for advanced clinical evaluation, analysis, and rehabilitation for a variety of neuro-physical conditions. The C.A.R.E.N. allows for the creation of controlled virtual environments from walking down a forest path to steering a speedboat on a lake or navigating objects on a road, in which patients can interact safely and healthcare providers can obtain important kinetic and kinematic data.
