Biography
Dr. Shannon Carmo earned her Bachelor of Science in Biobehavioral Health with a minor in Biology from Pennsylvania State University. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO), where she also completed her residency in Pediatrics and Vision Therapy. While at ICO, Dr. Carmo was honored with the OVDRA Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy and the Darrell G. Schlange, OD Scholarship for excellence in Pediatric Optometry.
Dr. Carmo's clinical focus includes pediatrics, individuals with special needs, and vision therapy. She is particularly passionate about treating amblyopia and learning-related vision disorders. In addition to her clinical work, she is a member of the American Academy of Optometry and the Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation Association (OVDRA).
