Biography

Dr. Lawrence Smith has thirty-four years of experience in private practice with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry. After earning his DDS degree from the University of Michigan in 1984, Dr. Smith returned to his native Oak Park, Illinois, where he purchased the practice of his uncle. Always one for adventure, Dr. Smith also served as a ship dentist for Holland America cruise line. He joined the clinical adjunct faculty at the MWU Dental Institute in 2015 and became a full-time faculty member in 2017.

Dr. Smith’s passion for dentistry is evidenced by his accumulation of over 2600 hours of continuing education and hands-on training. Most notably, he was awarded the highly distinguished Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry. His philosophy of comprehensive dentistry and treatment was molded by renowned centers of education such as L. D. Pankey Institute, Dawson Academy, Spears Education, and Scottsdale Center. Additionally, Dr. Smith has been active in numerous professional dentistry organizations.

When not involved with patient care, Dr. Smith enjoys both professional and college sports, playing a round of golf, biking, reading, playing the guitar, travelling, and flying as a private pilot. Dr. Smith and his wife, Corinne, have been married for over thirty years and are both very proud of their two successful children.
