Biography
Dr. Subialka received his Bachelor of Arts in Health Sciences in 2011, and his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2014 from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. He completed an orthopedic residency in 2016 and became a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy (OCS) in 2017. He then completed a fellowship in orthopedic manual physical therapy in 2018 through Upstream Rehab Institute (URI) and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT).
Dr. Subialka is currently completing his Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy (DScPT) at Bellin College in Green Bay, WI, where his research consists of examining patient expectations and the influence on health-related outcomes, as well as reviewing pragmatic and prescriptive manual therapy trials for low back pain. Other areas of interest include social determinants of health and access to healthcare services for disadvantaged populations, as well as clinical education research.
He previously worked as a staff physical therapist in a private outpatient orthopedic clinic in Pinehurst, NC for 6 years, working with many DPT students, orthopedic residents, and fellows-in-training prior to joining MWU. He continues to work with URI delivering continuing education courses, mentoring fellows-in-training, and acting as a research consultant. Dr. Subialka has taught numerous continuing education courses across the country, and maintains adjunct faculty status at High Point University in NC delivering musculoskeletal, examination/evaluation, and dry needling related content.
In his current role at MWU, he is responsible for teaching examination and evaluation principles, therapeutic exercise concepts, and treating patients in the MWU Physical Therapy Institute clinic while working with students as a clinical instructor.
