Biography
Dr. Hancock earned his DDS degree from Northwestern University Dental School in 1976. Upon graduation he returned to Scottsdale AZ and established his private practice. During his 43 years in practice, his practice focused on complex restorative dentistry, temporomandibular joint disorders, mild to moderate orofacial pain disorders and dental sleep medicine.
He began at Midwestern University in 2013 as an adjunct instructor and became a full-time faculty member in early 2020. Dr. Hancock has been a lecturer, researcher, and instructor for the Clinical Research Foundation, with a special interest in head and neck anatomy.
He maintains membership in the American Equilibration Society (AES), the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, ADEA, IADR/AADOCR, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the Academy of Dental Materials, the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Hancock serves on the ADA Standards Committee on Dental Products SUB TAG 9 group (CADCAM) and chairs Working Group 9.69.
He is privileged to be a Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International, the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. Dr Hancock serves on the MWU Bioethics Committee. Within the CDMA he serves on the Evidence Based Dentistry Committee, the Research Committee, the Student/Faculty Liaison/Second Year committees and the Student Promotions and Graduation Committee (Preclinical). His interests lie in complex restorative dentistry, orofacial pain, dental sleep medicine and how research results can improve treatment outcomes for patients.
